Task 1 Table

The table contains changes in worldwide population between 6 key areas from 1950 to 2000 and it also predicts the population for the year 2050.

By and large, we can see that, the only region where population is expected to increase by 2050 is Africa however Europe is expected to have the greatest drop in population over the same time period, the only continent having fluctuation in percentage is Asia.

It is interesting to note that Africa had a minute share of the population in 1950; conversely, forecasted to have 1/5th of the total worlds population by 2050. This scenario is exactly opposite for Europe which accounted for 22% of the population in 1950 and it will decline to just 7% in 2050.

Another Notable trend which can be seen in the data is that Asia is the only region where the population increased in the first 50 years but there is a prediction of decline in 2050. The remaining regions, North America, Latin America, oceania each makeup less than 10% of the world population and show only minor fluctuation in the contribution in the whole period.
